2017 Run Across Georgia

Staff Zone has been a loyal supporter of the Run Across Georgia, which is in its 9th year.  The Run Across Georgia is a fundraiser for the House of Heroes. This fundraiser has raised thousands of dollars to help repair veterans’ (military, police, fire) homes when they cannot afford to repair them on their own.

StartofRoce runners and crew Day 2 100+ miles complete another mile another flag Finished!

The first year of this event was run only by John Teeples (photographed above) He ran from Columbus to Tybee Island, Savannah. The following year, and every year since, Staff Zone’s very own General Manager, Brenda Hitz (photographed above), has run the 260 miles.   She ran in this event for four years with a team and four years solo.

This year was unique in that Brenda didn’t run as part of the “race”. Instead she started five days ahead of the race with John Teeples and Kevin (the dog) to put out flags every mile along the Georgia Country Road course.

The event kicked off from Savannah early in the morning on Saturday, May 27th and participants leap frogged across the state to arrive late Sunday in uptown Columbus. The fastest team finished in an impressive 31 hours, 42 mins. The slowest team finished in an admirable 42 hours, 28 mins.

Staff Zone is extremely proud to support such dedicated employees like Brenda, such an amazing organization like House of Heroes, and a truly remarkable event like the Run Across Georgia!  For more about this event, go to  www.runacrossgeorgia.com
